Cat of the Month: Izzyin Uncategorized
I was not looking for a new kitty but I always look at the adoptable cats when I’m at the pet store. I saw Izzie and fell in love! Not only was she adorable, but her name was Izzie (I’m Lizzie), her birthday is 3/21 (mine is 3/24). Still, I wasn’t sure I was ready. I had one cat at home and had lost my older cat 2 years prior. But I woke up the next day obsessed with making sure I would be Izzie’s new momma! I called the store and the foster parent several times that day, I’m sure I was very annoying but I was very emphatic on making sure that no one else adopted her. I knew she was meant to be mine!
Izzie loves being mischievous! When she was a baby, I would wake up in the middle of the night to find her swatting things off of my dresser. I would find lipstick, hair clips and everything under the sun when I moved the dresser. Izzie loves to eat! She gets caught eating her canine brother’s food all the time. Izzie likes going on car rides! She never makes a peep and refuses to be in a carrier, she is mesmerized by the environment that passes us by.
Every morning Izzie gets up with me and she knows the last stop before I head out the door is at her food dish. As I’m mixing up her cat food concoction, she stretches up her paws to the edge of the counter top. She lifts one paw in the air and we literally high five each other. It’s our morning (and dinner) ritual and it puts a smile on my face every time. It’s a great way to start the day!
Izzie started her visits as a baby at AWC. The visits soon became about her breathing issues. Izzie has had three surgeries in her 5 years of life. Two have been invasive due to polyp removals. Her most recent, and hopefully last, surgery was this October. Dr. Engmann has been my rock, answering my multitude of questions, explaining all options of treatment, and reassuring me that this is best for Izzie. I have never felt in better hands. Everyone at AWC is so caring for the animals (and their parents). I am so grateful for Dr. Engmann and the AWC staff for helping me feel at ease with the scary events that Izzie has had to go through.
