Hello humans,

My name is Cody.  I am almost 4 years old. My birthday is December 13th.  I am an English Teddy bear Golden Doodle (English golden retriever and poodle) and I was born and raised as a puppy in Alabama.  When I turned 8 weeks old, I went to live with a trainer for four weeks and was part of their family.  I learned a lot of things like how to sleep all night in my crate, started potty training, learned about all the things I might find in a house and also started working on my basic obedience skills.  When I was 12 weeks old, they put me on a big airplane and I flew all the way to Minneapolis.   I am not gonna lie  - it was a little scary but then my mama took me out of my crate,  I knew I found the perfect forever home!  My mama tells me it was love at first sight!  She tells me the story of waiting 6 months for me and many liters to find the perfect puppy and it was me! (Mama has a very bad dog allergy and needed an allergy friendly dog.  I am so glad I don’t make her sneeze. )

Mama thought it was very important that I learn how to be a good dog so we have been to many different training sessions.  Mama says I am a very good boy.  I know she wanted me to be a therapy dog but I just get so excited when I see people – I can’t contain myself.  I can’t help jumping up to say hi and give kisses – just ask the staff at Animal Wellness Center.  I love them all and I always say hi, give a big smile (yes I show my teeth) and I have to give sloppy doodle kisses to everyone I see.

Here are some of the things I love:

  • Snuggling
  • Sleeping on the bed
  • Eating my meals and treats
  • Chewing on a bone
  • Running after whiffle balls and the Frisbee in the backyard
  • People
  • Giving kisses
  • Going for walks
  • Hunting for chipmunks, rabbits or squirrels
  • Going to daycare at AWC – my best friends are Stella, Ruby and Bella (yes they are all girls  - I LOVE the girls!)

So mama says her favorite story about me is one that happened at Animal Wellness.  One of the daycare employees told my mama the story.  I think this is how it goes. Once day we had a new pup join the group, her name was Stella.  I guess she was sad as her brother had passed away and her humans thought she might be lonely and enjoy some friends at daycare.  Well she was very sad and stayed by herself and didn’t want to interact or play.  So I did my best to be her friend, play and make her happy and guess what?? Now she is happy and we play all the time – she is one of my best friends!  Sometimes we even snuggle together during nap time.  I am glad she is happy again.  Mama calls me a therapy dog for dogs.  I don’t know what that means but I love Stella.

I have been going to AWC since my very first puppy wellness visit.  I love all the staff and everyone knows me by name.  I get groomed there as well which I don’t really like.  Sometimes I have to stay overnight.  I am not very fond of that either but I try to make the best of it.  Mama says she has seen me on the video camera barking and barking in my room late into the night.  I don’t think she likes that too much but I am hoping someone will hear me and let me out.

Thank you for making me dog of the month for November! Sloppy Doodle kisses to you all – Muuuhhhhaaaa!

Love,

Cody
